Be Yourself

Do you ever find it hard to be confident in yourself? You deeply desire to be that person with their head held high, but insecurity starts creeping in. You are not alone!

Insecurity is one of the tactics used by the enemy to keep us from being effective for Kingdom work while here on earth. He knows that if he can make us think that our efforts aren’t “good enough” or that we aren’t as pretty/gifted/admired as our sister or brother, then we automatically disqualify ourselves before anyone has a chance to see what gifts we do have to offer.

The apostle Paul knew that Timothy needed to hear some words of encouragement in this area, so he wrote to him in 1 Timothy 4:12,

“Don’t let anyone put you down because you’re young. Teach believers with your life: by word, by demeanor, by love, by faith, by integrity.”

You don’t have to be anyone other than you. It doesn’t matter how old or young you are, what your waist size or your IQ is, or even how much Scripture you know. You have something to contribute to this world and it desperately needs your light!

Live YOUR life so that it points others to Christ: encouraging others with your words, exhibiting a kind demeanor, loving others well, living out your faith, having great integrity. That’s how you beat the insecurity and shine with all your beautiful being! Just be yourself.

This Reflecting Light and others will be published in April’s new book Made to Shine: 90 Devotions to Enjoy and Reflect God’s Light to be released on May 5, 2020. Preorder your copy from Amazon today!
